Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-10-14. If this policy is translated, the English version is the one that applies.
1. The short version
- We collect only what we need to teach, give feedback and run your account.
- We never sell personal information and we show no advertising.
- Students under 16 do not give us their own email: a parent or guardian gives their details and agrees for them.
- Your writing and recordings are sent to scoring services only to give you feedback.
- You can ask to see, correct or delete your information at any time: staff@jmsgroupglobal.com.
2. Who we are
EnglishPractice.ai is run by JMS Group LLC, Wilmington, Delaware, USA (“we”, “us”). We decide how the information described here is used and we are responsible for it. This policy covers the website englishpractice.ai, the learner, school and admin areas, and the free pages that need no account, such as the free TOEFL iBT® tryout.
When a school gives its students access, the school decides how its students use the service, and we handle their information on the school’s behalf and under this policy.
3. What we collect
If you make an account: your name, email address, password (stored only in scrambled form by our login service), the exams you study for and, if you subscribe, your plan. Payments are handled by Stripe; we never see or keep your card number.
Your learning: your answers, scores, the words you study, the lessons you finish, your study plan and test date, the writing you submit for feedback, and the feedback itself. If you use speaking practice as a member, we keep your recordings so you and your teacher can listen again.
On the free tryout: nothing until you ask for AI feedback. Then we ask for a name, an email address and when you plan to take the test, and whether you agree to study tips by email. For a student under 16 we ask for the parent’s or guardian’s name and email instead (see section 5). Your tryout answers, writing and recordings are not kept: writing and recordings are sent for scoring and the result is shown to you only.
Technical information: the pages you open and basic device and browser details our hosting service records to keep the site working and safe. To limit free feedback on the tryout we keep a scrambled (one-way hashed) form of your internet address, never the address itself.
On your device: the site keeps some progress, drafts and settings in your browser’s local storage so your work is not lost, and a login cookie when you sign in. We use no advertising or tracking cookies.
4. How we use it
- To run your account, your study plan and the lessons and practice you choose.
- To mark your answers and give feedback on your writing and speaking.
- To show your progress to you and, for school accounts, to your teacher.
- To answer your questions and tell you about changes to your account.
- To send study tips and news by email, only if you (or your parent or guardian) agreed. You can stop at any time.
- To prevent misuse, such as limiting free feedback, and to keep the service secure.
- To improve our lessons and practice, using totals and patterns rather than individual records.
We do not use your writing, recordings or answers to train AI models, and we do not allow the services that score them to do so for their own purposes.
5. Children and students under 16
Many of our learners are school students. Privacy laws in Japan and elsewhere in Asia ask services to involve a parent or guardian when they handle a child’s information, and Japan is moving to a clear age of 16. We follow that age everywhere:
- A student under 16 must have a parent or guardian create their account or give their details for them. On the free tryout, the form asks for the student’s age; for a student under 16, the parent or guardian enters their own name and email and agrees to this policy. We do not ask a child for their email.
- We ask a child only for what the lesson or practice needs. A first name or nickname is enough.
- Study tips and news go only to the parent or guardian, and only if they agreed.
- We show children no advertising and never sell or share their information for marketing.
- A parent or guardian can ask to see, correct or delete their child’s information, or ask us to stop using it, at any time: staff@jmsgroupglobal.com. We may ask you to confirm you are the parent or guardian.
If we learn that we have a child’s details without a parent’s or guardian’s agreement, we delete them.
7. Where your information is kept
We store your information with cloud service providers whose data centers are in Asia. Some of the companies above work from other countries, including the United States, so your information may be handled there when they do their part of the work. We choose companies that protect personal information, and we send them only what their part of the work needs.
8. How long we keep it
- Account and learning records: while your account is open. When you ask us to delete your account, we delete or anonymize your information within 30 days, except what the law requires us to keep, such as payment records.
- Free tryout details (name, email, test date): up to 24 months after you give them, or until you ask us to delete them.
- Scrambled internet addresses used to limit free feedback: with the tryout details they belong to.
9. Your choices and rights
You can ask us to show you the information we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, or to stop using it or sharing it. You can stop study tips by email at any time. A parent or guardian can do all of this for a child. Write to staff@jmsgroupglobal.com; we answer within 30 days.
Depending on where you live, you may have further rights under your local law, and you may complain to your data protection authority.
10. Keeping it safe
Information is sent over encrypted connections, access to our database is limited to the people who need it, and passwords are never stored in readable form. No service can promise perfect security; if a problem affects your information, we will tell you and the authorities as the law requires.
11. Changes to this policy
When we change this policy we update the date at the top, and for important changes we tell account holders by email or on the site before they apply.
